Immigration Attraction & Retention Strategy Community Consultations

November 8, 2022 (12:30 PM - 1:30 PM) (EST)

Description

Lanark & Renfrew & Eastern Ontario Skilled and unskilled labour shortages are a major concern across Eastern Ontario. Our municipal leaders, economic development partners, and business owners recognize that immigrant recruitment and retention can play a pivotal role in helping to address these shortages. Eastern Ontario Training Board, Local Immigration Partnership – Lanark & Renfrew, Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership, Réseau de soutien à l’immigration francophone de l’est de l’Ontario and St. Lawrence-Rideau Immigration Partnership – Leeds and Grenville believe now is an opportune time to establish a holistic regional immigration attraction strategy. We envision a practical implementation plan that will guide the collective efforts of each area toward a unified goal of growing and retaining our newcomer populations. Our community partners are ready, but we need a functional plan to move the willingness and commitment forward. The overall objective of this project is to develop and implement an innovative strategy to attract newcomers and retain them in Eastern Ontario to address labour market shortages while also considering housing, welcoming attitudes, and relevant supports available to strengthen our attractiveness to immigrants. This strategy will develop resources to enhance the attractiveness and competitiveness of employment opportunities within the region for our local businesses and organizations. Your contribution to this project is invaluable. Thank you for registering to attend a community consultation session. For more information Click Here
